1845
Meura was founded in 1845 by Jean-Baptiste Meura in Tournai (Belgium).

 

1901
Philippe Meura, the son of the founder, developed the first filter press to improve the mash lautering process. This invention is at the heart of the well-known Meura filter, one of the company's spearhead inventions until today.

 

1910
Exhibition of the first mash filter at the World Fair in Brussels.

 

1920
The family-owned business becomes a joint stock company: MEURA S.A.

 

1930
MEURA decides to export and install brewhouses in the North of France. Its business progressively expands to the other European countries and the rest of the world.

 

1950
After World War II, Meura expands and invests in new production techniques.
Thanks to this, Meura is able to stay ahead of all its competitors. Meura becomes well-known everywhere for the quality and profitability of its products and services.

 

1955
Meura starts manufacturing the first CCT's

 

1987  Meura 2001 mash filter 

 

Introduction of the fine grinding of malt and the Meura 2001 mash filter.

 

1994
Wort stripping - Ecostripper 

Introduction of the Ecostripper.

 

1995
150th anniversary of the MEURA company.

 

1996
Meura establishes a joint-venture in China: MEURA CHANGCHUN.

 

1997
Meura Technolohgies

Meura decides to install its R&D Division in the heart of the University city of Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium): Meura Technologies was born.

 

1998Boccard

 

The Boccard family takes over Meura's activities and integrates them in its Food-Pharma division.

Introduction of the Meura Yeast Management System.

 

1999
Wet fine milling technology - Hydromill
Meura introduces a new product for fine grinding of malt under water: the Hydromill.

 

2000

  • Establishment of MEURA MOSCOW.

 

  • Mechamasher
    Introduction of the new Meura mechanical pre-masher, the Mechamasher

 

  • Clean Steam Injection
    Introduction of the  AFLOSJET System: a new mash heating system using direct steam injection.

 

2003

 Carbomill

Introduction of the Carbomill : a new malt milling system for the production of non-oxidised dry fine grist.

 

2004
In order to be able to meet the increasing demand, Meura moves to new premises in Péruwelz (Belgium)

 

2005
Mash filtration - meura 2001 Carbo +
 Introduction of the Meura 2001 Carbo + mash filter.

 

 2007
Praj logo
Meura enters in a partnership with PRAJ Industries Limited, India.

 

2007
Meurabrew logo
Introduction of the first Meurabrew, Meura's continuous brewhouse.
